Veracruz is situated at a latitude of about 19°. The coastal area experiences an average temperature of 72°F (22°C) and a typical low temperature of 64°F (18°C). Rainfall may occur at any time during the year. The mountainous regions of the state experience somewhat cooler temperatures and more frequent rainshowers. Hurricanes are possible along the coast from June to October, which is also the rainiest part of the year. In the winter months, cold air masses descend from the north and trigger rainfall when colliding with the warm coastal air.
